What is the SECU Foundation?

The SECU Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 2004. The mission of the SECU Foundation is to enhance members’ lives by promoting financial education and affording opportunities for personal and professional development. One way the SECU Foundation achieves its mission is by offering scholarships to eligible credit union members.

Since its inception, the SECU Foundation has awarded more than $5 million in scholarships to over 1,600 students across North Carolina. The foundation offers both need-based and merit-based scholarships, which range from $500 to $5,000 per academic year.

How Do I Find Out if I’m Eligible for a SECU Scholarship?

In order to be eligible for a SECU scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

– You must be a primary member of SECU in good standing with a account balance of at least $5
– You must demonstrate financial need
– You must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, or community college in North Carolina
– You must be pursuing your first undergraduate degree
– You must be a legal resident of North Carolina
– You must not have been convicted of a felony
